You can place a hold on an item in our collection that is checked
out. When you place a hold, you will be notified, by phone or
U.S. Mail, as soon as a copy of that title becomes available for
checkout.
To Place a Hold:
- Search the Library Catalog
for the title you would like to reserve.
- To access the full record, click on the title (hyperlinked).
- To reserve the item, i.e. place a hold, click on the Hold Title
button.
- On the Hold Patron Check - type in
- Your patron barcode, with no spaces;
- Your home phone number, with no punctuation.
(To gain access to your record, your patron barcode number
and telephone number should match exactly with our computer
records.)
- Commit Hold - Select your pickup location from the
drop down menu and click on commit hold.
- Hold Response - displays the Title/Author and Hold Status.
Check under Hold Status to verify if the opertaion was successful.
You will not be able to place holds if :
- If the title does not have copies which can circulate (for
instance: Reference or Special Collections materials).
- You library barcode and phone number do not exactly match
with our computer records.
If you are unable to place a hold on an item, please contact
your local branch or refer to the FAQs.
Viewing your holds list :
- Access Your Account from the Library catalog.
- Click on the Holds List button. GeoWeb shows the date the
hold was placed, the title and author, the hold expiration date,
and the location at which the item can be picked up when available.
If the item is available now, the page also shows the date until
which the library will reserve the item.
Cancelling your Holds :
- Access Your Account from the Library catalog.
- Click on the Holds List button.
- If you want to cancel one or more of the holds, click the
Cancel checkbox next to each, and then click the Cancel Selected
Holds button.
- If you want to cancel all of the holds, click the Cancel All
Holds button.
- To return to the Patron Record page, click the Return button.
- To leave the patron function pages and return to the database
search pages, click the Return to Search button.
InterLibrary Loan :
If PGCMLS does not own the item you want, go to Marina
to place a hold for the item from another library system.
