Library Resources

• The Library's collection of licensed databases may include information on this topic; these are commercial, copyrighted materials that PGCMLS licenses for the reference and research needs of its customers; often this material comes directly from printed books. Most of these databases may be accessed remotely, while a few are available only to users on PC's in our Branches.
• The Library's collection of electronic reference books may also include information on this topic. These online versions of printed books do not have to be checked out or downloaded; like databases, content can be searched and sections printed. They are always available for your use in the Library and through remote access from home.

• Ellis Island: Free Port of New York Passenger Records Search
  Access passenger records, learn about the history of Ellis Island and genealogy research, or share immigrant experiences.
• FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service
  One of the largest genealogy sites, with a vast store of records collected in great part by the Mormon church. Search for your ancestors; browse census, legal, military, vital records, and family histories.
• Enoch Pratt Free Library – How to Guides: Genealogy
  A list of instructional and resource guides produced by Maryland’s State Library Resource Center, including resources at the Enoch Pratt Library and a guide to African American Genealogy.
• Maryland State Archives
  Maryland’s state depository of historical records, documents, publications and special collections.
• MDGenWeb:  Maryland Genealogy
  The Maryland USGenWeb Genealogy Project collects free Maryland genealogy resources; includes a sub-directory of sites for all Maryland counties.   
• MDGenWeb:  Prince George’s County
  The Maryland USGenWeb Genealogy Project’s PG County page includes a database of wills and probates dating from the 17th century.

  The Society’s organizational information, bulletin, and newsletter as well as links to homepages of statewide member societies .

  The Maryland Room is a reference collection of over 8,000 books, pamphlets, clippings, maps, microforms, magazines and newspapers dealing with current and historical materials on Maryland, emphasizing Prince George's County.
