  • The Library's collection of licensed databases may include information on this topic; these are commercial, copyrighted materials that PGCMLS licenses for the reference and research needs of its customers; often this material comes directly from printed books. Most of these databases may be accessed remotely, while a few are available only to users on PC's in our Branches.
  • The Library's collection of electronic reference books may also include information on this topic. These online versions of printed books do not have to be checked out or downloaded; like databases, content can be searched and sections printed. They are always available for your use in the Library and through remote access from home.

    Legal and self-help information on Maryland and federal law affecting low and moderate income people and their families.
  • Nolopedia: Free Legal Information
    Articles on a large variety of legal topics; Nolo's goal is to make America's legal system accessible to everyone.
  • PublicLegal
    A categorized index of more than 4000 select web sites, as well as thousands of legal forms and downloadable files; PublicLegal is quality controlled to include only the most substantive legal resources online.

    Provides listings of government contracts available for solicitation by contractors.
  • EconoMagic.Com
    Over 200,000 economic data files, with charts and Excel files for each.
  • FedStats
    Search for statistics from over 100 federal agencies on topics ranging from agriculture to wages. A state or county profile also provides quick, relevant statistics.
  • Forms.gov
    Provides citizens and businesses with a common access point to federal agency forms.
  • GPO Access
    A service of the U.S. Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to a wealth of important information products produced by the Federal Government. Some direct legal links are listed below:
    • CFR (Code of Federal Regulations)
      Contains the updated rules of the various federal government agencies and departments.
    • Federal Register
      The official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as executive orders and other presidential documents.
    • U.S. Code
      The codification by subject matter of the general and permanent laws of the United States; It is divided by broad subjects into 50 titles.
  • Population Profile of the United States
    U. S. Census Bureau site contains current information on a wide range of topics including National and state population trends and projections. Each section is illustrated with graphs, charts, and maps.
  • Statistical Abstract
    The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.
